About this course

Make small rubber printing blocks to create repeat surface pattern designs for cards, labels, envelopes, small books and fabric samples.

Course Description

You will design and cut your own small rubber printing blocks, taking inspiration from historical block printing, festive imagery, textiles, endpapers and 1950’s wallpaper designs. Guided by the tutor, you will then experiment with repetition and pattern to create a suitable design. From this, you will produce a unique collection of greetings cards, labels, envelopes, small books and fabric samples.

You will have the opportunity to learn how to make instant books and concertina books with covers to embellish with your own prints and designs.

At the end of the day, you will take with you your stamps and collection of cards, printed fabric samples and at least one book. You will have been introduced to simple printmaking techniques and be inspired to continue working from home.
