About this course

Photoshop is an industry-standard image-editing programme used by designers to add colour, texture and detail to visual materials and presentation. These four evening sessions will introduce students to the introductory skills needed to begin working with Photoshop. Strong emphasis is placed on best practices, and approaches are derived from experience and working solutions. It is aimed at design students and professionals, and examples and course materials will relate to interior design practice, but could be applied to other disciplines.

Course Description

During the four sessions of this evening course you will cover:

• Photoshop User Interface

• Document Set Up – Image Setup Dialogue Box

• Understanding the differences between: Canvas size; Image Size and Resolution in Pixels/mm; File size

• Workspaces

• Create, Open and Import Images

• Layer Management and Manipulation

• Selection Tools and Techniques

• Most Commonly Used Transform Tools

• Image Colour Adjustments

• Layer Masks

• Clone Stamp

• Content Aware Fill

• Save Photoshop Files and Save as JPEGs

• Layer Management and Manipulation – Cont.

• Brushes

• Colours, Swatches and Gradients

• Basic Floor Plan Rendering using Colours

• Applying Layer Effects – Shadows and Glows

• Filter Effects

• Basic Floor Plan Lighting Effects

• Apply Photoshop's Built-In Patterns as Overlays
