Photography: Stories and projects with Marcus Bastel

Ref: K8P13617

About this course

While there is a technical aspect to using a camera, it is equally crucial to understand how to frame what you see and know what you want to capture. There is always an aspect to taking a picture that changes with the light, your state of mind, time of day etc. What makes it worth taking a picture today might not be true tomorrow; in that sense, there are no second chances. This is especially true when photographing people – when we see them, where we see them, and how we approach them.

This course takes place over eight Tuesday evenings.

Course Description

To create the basis for a narrative, this course will combine different types of photography, such as landscape, portrait, documentary and street photography. By the end of the course, participants will have created their storytelling project and gained confidence in approaching a subject and trusting their instinct. The course is mainly based on site as we will discuss participants' work, but we will venture outside for short assignments, and participants are asked to complete creative tasks between lessons.
