About this course

A presentation on propagation throughout the year based on Hannah's work at Marchants Garden and Nursery will be followed by a hands-on workshop looking at how to divide plants, take different kinds of cuttings and how to sow seed. Any plants you make are yours to take home at the end of the day.

Course Description

The day will begin with a presentation on propagation throughout the year at Marchants Garden and Nursery. After break, there will be a stroll round West Dean Gardens, looking closely for signs of plants that are ready to propagate.

After choosing a plant to split, the fun begins! This will be a hands-on experience looking at how to divide a plant, take different kinds of cuttings and how to sow seed. We will look at the different array of tools and methods that can be used. Any plants you make are yours to take home at the end of the day!

Students should arrive by 9am for registration.

Classes are from 9.15 - 5pm

Lunch is included.

Course Materials

Included

  • On this course, the tutor will supply most of the materials used to make your cuttings.

What students need to bring

  • Secateurs
  • Suitable outdoor clothing and boots for all weathers as we will be outside for part of the day.

Additional information

Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).

Hannah Fox

Hannah Fox has been working at Marchants Hardy Plants with renowned plantsman, Graham Gough for 9 years. She has recently taken over the running of the nursery and is responsible for propagating all the high-quality plants for which the nursery has such a good reputation.
