On this course you will go back to basics, learning all the essential skills and techniques needed to paint in watercolours. These will include wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brush, flat washes, graduated and variegated washes, layering and glazing, optical mixing and building a basic palette.
The day will include a series of watercolour technique exercises, with demonstrations and practice sessions. You will build a sample book of all techniques that you will take home and use as future reference. You will also build a basic watercolour palette, covering all the essential colours needed for a complete coverage of the colour spectrum.
The course is aimed at beginners wanting to build a solid base to paint in watercolours, or anyone with more experience needing a refresh on basic techniques.

On this course the tutor will supply some of the materials, including paint charts. On this course the College will supply most of the materials, including 4 x A3 sheets watercolour paper, paints, a brush, some string for binding the book of techniques and a cloth.

Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).
