Collagraph is a very versatile and creative technique for making prints from a collaged plate. You will use an etching press to make your prints.
The plates are built on a card surface by both sticking and carving. During the day, you will gain experience in how to construct plates by gluing textured papers and other materials to the base, as well as cutting and carving into it to make a range of marks and effects when printed.
You will also learn about Chine collé. This is a method of introducing colour or graphic elements to your print using lightweight papers as part of the printmaking process.
You will leave with a small collection of samples and prints.
