Looking for the perfect day out near Chichester? Nestled at the foot of the beautiful South Downs, West Dean Gardens in West Sussex is one of the greatest restored gardens open to the public today.
Step into a world of rich creative and social heritage as you take a gentle stroll around our breathtaking grounds. Discover a wide range of historic and enchanting features, from the beautifully restored Victorian Glasshouses to the sculptural artwork interwoven in our vibrant Spring Garden. Take your time exploring the seasonal produce being grown for our Restaurant in the Walled Kitchen Garden, wander beneath the stunning 100 metre Edwardian pergola, or explore the breadth of nature with a walk through the 49-acre St. Roche's Arboretum. Open from January to December - come and experience the magic of every season.
Please note: The Gardens Restaurant will be closed from Tuesday, 7 April to Friday, 1 May as we make some exciting changes to your dining experience. During this time our Gardeners Cottage and Shepherd Hut will be open for food and refreshments. Find out more.

ROSA Botanical Art Fair
Join us for a festival of flora in art and design at the first ROSA Botanical Art Fair. Explore a series of exhibitions and installations throughout West Dean’s historic rooms, work by the Society of Botanical Artists in the Estate Boardroom and a curated art and design fair on the front lawn. Festivities at this new event include a sculpture garden, performances, talks, tours, and a vintage tea marquee.
