The Gardens Gatehouse, Restaurant and majority of the Gardens are accessible to wheelchair users. If you have any questions, please contact us in advance, so we can help you make the most of your visit.
We offer free entry for essential companions if they are visiting to support the person they care for.
From the stunning Edwardian Pergola and beautifully restored Victorian Glasshouses to the delights of the Spring Garden and scenic Sunken Garden, discover the Gardens before your visit.
West Dean Gardens is 6 miles north of Chichester on the A286 towards Midhurst. The entrance to West Dean Gardens is signposted from the A286. Free parking is available, with designated spaces for disabled visitors and coaches. For satellite navigation use postcode PO18 0RX to find West Dean Gardens.
Travelling by train
The nearest train station is Chichester, from where you can pick up a taxi or the number 60 bus.
Travelling by bus
By bus: the number 60 bus runs from Midhurst to Chichester every half hour Monday - Saturday. On Sundays buses are every hour. For an up-to-date timetable visit the Stagecoach website.

Admission - Do I need to book in advance?
Entry admission can be purchased on arrival at the Gardens from our visitor centre, the Gardens Gatehouse. Pre-booking is not necessary, except on event days.
Facilities - What toilet facilities are available?
Toilets (inlcuding accessible toilets) are available in the grounds of the Gardens and inside our visitor centre, the Gardens Gatehouse.
General - Can I bring my dog?
Dogs on a short lead (including when walking around the Arboretum), are welcome at the Gardens. Please clean up after your dog. Bags are available from the Gardens Gatehouse and bins are provided around the site. Please be aware of farm animals that freely roam the fields.
General - Can I bring a picnic?
You are welcome to bring a picnic to the Gardens. There are also plenty of benches and enclosed seating in the grounds. We ask that you be considerate of the environment around you, and any rubbish is placed in bins or taken home with you.
Food and drink can also be purchased from the Gardens Restaurant.
Unfortunately, the House is not open to the general public, unless part of an organised event or tour. Please see our events calendar for more details.
General - Can I fly my drone in the Gardens and Estate?
No, flying drones and UAVs at West Dean is prohibited.
