Eduroam Wifi at West Dean

eduroam is a free, secure wireless (wi-fi) service available throughout West Dean's campuses in Sussex and London, as well as at other participating Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and public venues worldwide.

In addition to the main benefit of roaming, West Dean account holders are encouraged to use eduroam for enhanced security and improved connection speeds.

At West Dean we use certificate-based authentication, rather than usernames and passwords, to enable you to connect to eduroam. To connect to eduroam you first need to install the certificate on your device.

Installing the eduroam certificate

  1. Ensure your device is already connected to the internet. This can be via 4G/5G, an off-site wi-fi, or if on-site by temporarily joining the West Dean Visitors wi-fi network.
  2. Follow the certificate deployment instructions provided in the below link.

Help and support

If you experience any issues using the eduroam network, please contact [email protected]

West Dean staff or students visiting other institutions

If you are visiting another higher education institution which is part of the eduroam participating organisation network, then your device should automatically authenticate to the eduroam wi-fi network of the institution. Please note that not all eduroam sites support the certificate-based authentication that we use.
Check to see if the UK institution you are visiting is one of the eduroam participating organisations.

Visting West Dean from another eduroam institution?

If you are visiting West Dean from another institution in the eduroam participating organisation network, you should be able to connect to the West Dean eduroam wi-fi network in the same manner you do at your home institution.
