About this course

This drawing course focuses on mark-making using a variety of techniques, including monoprint, and aims to open up new modes of creative expression.

Course Description

Mark-making is what we do when we draw, whether from representation or abstraction or beyond. This course will teach you about the ways different artists have pushed the boundaries of mark-making in art history and will actively engage you in the process of making marks onto surfaces using a variety of materials, including pencil, charcoal and ink.

You can expect to:

  • Use a variety of materials and actions to make marks
  • Learn how to monoprint and explore the potential of this medium
  • Engage your body, senses and mind in the act of mark-making
  • Explore both representational and expressive drawing

This course aims to be fun and active, and you should come with an open mind. The aim is to free up your modes of expression, discover new ways of leaving your trace and respond to the world and your experiences.
