Liz Shippam

Liz is a botanical artist working in watercolour to produce highly detailed, contemporary paintings. Based in Chichester Liz regularly exhibits in the US and London as well as locally. She is a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists and a longstanding member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and has received numerous awards for her work.

Describe your approach to teaching
In a relaxed, informal environment I demonstrate and explain each stage of the process and also give individual advice and feedback to students about their work whenever it is needed.

What inspires your own work?
A regular visitor to the gardens at West Dean, I am particularly drawn to fruit which changes as it ripens and aim to capture the transient beauty of a particular moment in time. Fruit with bloom is my favourite to paint.
