Fine Art Alumni News – VR Prize 2019

West Dean College orf Arts and Conservation MFA alumnus Laura Luna Castillo has just been awarded the 'Best VR Award' by the Nexon Computer Museum in South Korea for her immersive Virtual Reality work developed in August 2019 for the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology at Virginia Tech.

The NCM Open Call is an annual contest held by Nexon Computer Museum that aims to offer new challenges to digital creators. It fosters new and emerging talents and supports all manner of innovative engagements with Virtual Reality.

The 2019 NCM Open Call focused on the theme of X Reality, a new term that combines all manner of approaches to virtualization that includes not only Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), but also encompasses eXtended Reality (XR) which broadens the perspectives of reality, Cross Reality (CR), which overlaps real and virtual worlds, and even unknown ‘X’, the undetermined and unpredictable.
