About this course

An alternative quilt-making workshop exploring mixed media, patchwork and found material. Working with laminated paper and cloth, repurpose your found ephemera into a quilted textile piece.

Course Description

Blend old and new materials together with simple quilting methods to create a decorative paper quilt.

Explore creative approaches to traditional patchwork and quilting. Laminate layers of materials, join, piece and patch with hand stitch, use recycled fabric and paper, and create a unique quilt surface with patchwork, appliqué and stitch.

Experiment with techniques - traditional English paper piecing, hand and machine quilting, template appliqué and log cabin.

The day will begin with bonding materials together with fine layers of glue and paint. This will be followed by quilted patchwork and appliqué techniques.

To finish, you will rearrange your materials into several exploratory samples or a small, resolved piece.
