About this course

Students will make two cotton key tassels, suitable to hang in an interior, in colourful cotton yarns, and using traditional techniques as practised in trimmings workshops.

Course Description

This course aims to introduce the techniques of traditional passementerie tassel making, but with today’s interiors and soft furnishings in mind. You can expect to complete two key tassels suitable to hang on furniture around the house.

We will be working with good quality cotton yarns, in a rich colour range, and wooden tassel moulds. Techniques include how to glue roll the mould with a cord, as well as cover it vertically with yarn, make a wired skirt, and a two-strand cord using a four-hook cord-twister.

The tutor will demonstrate the technique at each stage, and guide you through to completed work.
