About this course

A wonderful workshop suitable for beginners and those with some silver clay experience. Come and learn how to make a tiny solid silver lidded pot.

Course Description

In this wonderful new workshop, you will learn how to construct a beautiful tiny lidded pot made from magical silver clay. You will have a choice of moulds, tiny cutters and super sparkly stones to decorate and embelish your pot to make it your own.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to roll and texture the clay
  • How to use a paper template
  • How to cut and form the clay into shape
  • How to construct the pot securely
  • How to use moulds and tiny cutters to create embellishments
  • How to set sparkly cubic zirconia stones
  • How to polish and patinate

You will go home with your own little unique lidded pot.

All pots will be kiln fired on the day and can be taken home at the end of the course.

Course Materials

Included

On this course the tutor will supply all of the materials, including 30g silver clay per student to make this project.

What students need to bring

  • A notebook and pen for taking notes and designing jewellery pieces
  • An apron
  • Hair tie for long hair
  • Covered shoes (no sandals or open toes)

  • Extra silver clay is available to purchase from the tutor if required.

Additional information

Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).

Timetable

Arrival day - first date of course
Residential students can arrive from 4pm, non-residential students to arrive by 6.45pm for registration  
Student welcome, followed by dinner: 6.45pm (dinner included)
Teaching session: 8pm-9pm (attendance is essential)

Daily timetable
Course teaching: 9.15am-5pm  
Morning session: 9.15am-12.45pm including coffee/tea break  
Lunch break: 12.45pm-2pm (lunch included)  
Afternoon session: 2pm-5pm including coffee/tea break  
Teaching finishes: 5pm    
Evening working: students may have access to workshops until 9pm, but only with permission from the tutor and provided any health and safety guidelines are observed.

Departure day - last date of course
Course teaching: 9.15am-3pm (lunch included)  
Teaching finishes: 3pm  

Residential students will need to check out of rooms by 10am.
Please note, the tutor may make slight variations to the daily timetable as required.
