This course aims to introduce the techniques of traditional passementerie tassel making, but with todays interiors and soft furnishings in mind. You can expect to complete a full-size tassel and suspension cord suitable to hang on furniture around the house, or as a pull.
We will be working with good quality cotton yarns, in a rich colour range, and a wooden tassel mould. Techniques include how to glue roll the mould with a cord, as well as cover it vertically with yarn, make a wired skirt with a decorative overskirt, and a ruff at the waist. We will also be learning how to make a three-strand cord using a four-hook cord-twister.
The tutor will demonstrate the technique at each stage, and guide you through to completed work.
