Jenny Mendes

Jenny has been working with ceramics professionally for over 25 years combining her love of clay and painting. She works as a fulltime maker and has taught workshops across the United States, as well as participated in ceramic residencies in France, Slovenia, Latvia, Turkey The Netherlands, and Serbia.

Describe your approach to teaching:
My approach begins with hand building, painting demonstrations and group discussion. Students are encouraged to trust and work intuitively towards the discovery of a personal voice within the materials presented.

What inspires your own work?
There is a thread throughout all of my work that reflects my experience of being alive. I am inspired by everything, especially nature, relationships, animals that I know, and stories.
