John Meaker
John Meaker is a prolific artist, experienced teacher and lecturer.
John studied at St. Albans, Goldsmiths College and the Royal
Academy Schools. His paintings combine human and mythic dramas, and
abstract composition.
As a teacher it is my task to help develop in each student/artist a
unique and independent process of work using appropriate classical
or modernist skills and techniques.
My work is inspired by the mythic narratives and human insights of
Poussin and Blake; the visualization occurring in the experiments
of Alexander Cozens and the spirit of gestural expression in the
work of Willem De Kooning.
