The Repair Shop's Kirsten Ramsay returns to West Dean

We recently welcomed The Repair Shop's ceramics expert and West Dean alumna Kirsten Ramsay back to West Dean.

Kirsten Ramsay's career has flourished after studying Ceramics Conservation with us over 30 years ago. During her visit, she visited students in the ceramics workshops, and reminisced on her experiences and memories studying with us.

Known as the ceramics expert on the BBC's The Repair Shop, Kirsten has established a successful ceramic conservation and restoration business serving clients including private collectors, public institutions, antique professionals, auction houses and the general public.

"It was an absolute pleasure to return to West Dean College earlier this Summer and film in the beautiful grounds.

I was keen to highlight the work that goes on at the college offering world class conservation courses in a unique and supportive learning environment.

It’s thirty years since I was a student here but during my two year training I made lifelong friends and connections. When I was asked to appear on the BBC programme The Repair Shop as a Ceramics Conservator seven years ago, I said yes because I knew it was filmed right next to my old college and I still have strong connections with this place.

If you are interested in a career in conservation then there are many different disciplines to choose from, ceramics just being one.

West Dean College offers you a foundation to start your career from."
