During the first day, using a fret saw, you will use the principles of the Boulle technique to cut two to four veneers in a pack (as one set) and create a traditional acanthus pattern.
Some initial exercises will be done to learn how to prepare and use the fretsaw, choose veneers, prepare a pack of veneer, ready to cut, and how to assemble to make a small decorative panel. You will then glue the different patterns and assess to prepare for the second day, when you will have the opportunity to cut a simple pattern design of your own to make a second piece.
It is essential that you are able to use the fretsaw with a steady hand to achieve a good result with the fine veneers used in marquetry.
