Embark on a captivating guided journey through the night sky with renowned local astronomer Dr. John Mason MBE. Discover the wonders above as he points out brilliant stars, both familiar and obscure constellations, and shares the ancient myths and legends behind them. Learn about the Moon, visible planets, satellites, shooting stars, and much more. Set within the South Downs National Park, an International Dark Sky Reserve, West Dean offers the ideal setting to deepen your understanding of the celestial world.​

Dr. John Mason MBE’s ‘Living Planetarium’ night-time tour transforms the real night sky into a spectacular outdoor star theatre. Using the stars above as his guide, Dr. Mason offers a unique and immersive stargazing experience. Guests are encouraged to bring binoculars (if available), dress warmly, and wear suitable footwear for the evening. Complimentary hot drinks will be served during the event.

Please arrive by 6:15pm for a prompt 6:30pm start.
