The Interior Design Short Course focuses on the fundamentals of designing for residential interiors, covering subjects such as the design process, colour, using fabrics and trimmings, lighting, space planning to scale, soft furnishings, developing a concept, sourcing, presentation. The course culminates in producing a professional quality concept board and sample board for a room in your own home or for a “West Dean client”.
Who should attend?
Anybody thinking about entering the industry via one of West Dean/KLC's renowned qualification courses and wanting to test the water. Any person who wants some fundamental knowledge and skills for their own personal design projects. Anyone with an interest in design looking to broaden their knowledge and have an enjoyable experience! Suitable for complete beginners and design enthusiasts.

The College will supply the materials and equipment you will require for the course.
Magazines, samples including fabric, trimmings, paint cards, wallpaper, trimmings and flooring will also be available for discussion.
Pencil case Please bring your laptop or tablet as course notes may be shared digitally.
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).
Student registration: 10am- 10.30am
Course teaching: 10.30am-4.30pm
Morning session: 10.30am-1pm
Lunch break: 1pm-2pm (lunch is not included)
Afternoon session: 2pm-4.30pm (optional 15 minute break)
Teaching finishes: 4.30pm
