About this course

This comprehensive, whole-day workshop will teach you how to plan and structure an entire two-act play, focusing on characters, locations, time-period, plot, suspense, twists and clever endings.

Course Description

From the leader of the Criterion New Writing script development programme – a series of workshops delivered live on stage in the heart of the West End – this comprehensive, whole-day workshop will teach you how to plan and structure an entire two-act play — characters, locations, time-period, plot, suspense, twists and clever endings.

You will be encouraged to write brand new dialogue, devise outlines of scenes, consider overall narrative shape, discuss how to animate important themes with live drama, invent ways to reveal back-story and narrative context and come up with surprise twists, fulfilling reveals and convincing endings.

The day will end with a question-and-answer session where you can raise issues specific to your own writing.
