About this course

A wonderful workshop suitable for beginners and those with some silver clay experience. Come and learn how to make a small silver acorn and oak leaf from silver clay using nature finds.

Course Description

​​On this course, you will learn how to hand sculpt a small silver acorn and also how to make a three-dimensional mould of a real acorn and use the mould to cast an acorn in silver clay. 
 
You will then use a real oak leaf to create a silver leaf to compliment your acorns. 
 
In this workshop, you will learn: 
How to make a three-dimensional mould of a real acorn 
How to use the mould with silver clay 
How to hand sculpt a little acorn from silver clay 
How to texture the clay using a real oak leaf 
How to cut the clay 
How to refine your pieces 
How to use embeddable fittings 
How to patinate and polish your pieces 
 
At the end of the day, you will go home with a beautifully tactile, reversible, solid silver acorn and oak leaf pendant. The tutor will also have some sterling silver chains available to purchase as an optional extra.​ 

Course Materials

Included

​​On this course West Dean will supply all of the materials, including 10g silver clay per student to make this project. ​ 

What students need to bring

​​A notebook and pen for taking notes and designing jewellery pieces 
An apron 
Hair tie for long hair 
Covered shoes (no sandals or open toes)​

​​A variety of art and craft materials are available for purchase from the Garden Gatehouse.

Additional information

​​Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).​
