About this course

Sculpt a naturalistic face in clay whilst learning the fundamentals of sculpting. You will prepare the sculpture to be fired so it can be kept as a family heirloom for many generations to come.

Course Description

The aim is to sculpt a naturalistic face in clay, working from the reference of a plaster life mould. You will study the proportions of the face and how to scale a sculpture. You will learn the essential techniques of how to sculpt the nose, mouth and eyes to capture a realistic look and feel. You will learn how to manage the clay and which tools to use at each stage. You will prepare the sculpture ready for firing.

Your tutor will demonstrate and teach one-to-one throughout the course.

By the end of the course, you will have gained confidence in your ability to work with clay and learned a host of techniques for making a naturalistic face, which can be left at the College for firing.
