About this course

This course offers a grounding, restorative approach to mosaic-making, blending hands-on technique with mindful, embodied creative practice. Participants will explore how slowing down, working with the senses, and engaging in intuitive making can support wellbeing, focus, and creative flow.

Course Description

Across 3 days, students will develop a personal mosaic piece while experiencing a series of gentle creative prompts and mindful making exercises. We will work with colour, texture, pattern and simple design methods to help participants connect with their creativity in a spacious, supportive environment.

The course includes:

  • Mindful making techniques to support focus, calm and flow
  • Simple design development using intuitive and structured approaches
  • Exploring materials: ceramic, glass, Picassiette, reclaimed fragments
  • Cutting, shaping and placement techniques
  • Embodied creative exercises to support relaxation and confidence
  • Time for reflection, gentle discussion and shared creative space

By the end of the course, each participant will complete a mosaic piece that feels personal and meaningful, created through a process that prioritises wellbeing and enjoyment.

Mindful Making week is an opportunity to immerse yourself in your chosen craft and discover the simple pleasure of making, giving yourself time and space to slow down and focus on learning or improving your skills. There will be several courses running in parallel this week where you can discover what else is happening in other studios plus a session of short, inspirational talks by tutors on Tuesday evening starting at 5.30pm – 6.30pm. There will be the opportunity to join a sound bowl session during the week.
