Deena Beverley

Internationally renowned award award-winning textile artist, author and tutor Deena Beverley specialises in richly layered, illustrative and impressionistic work using mixed media; notably found and vintage materials.

Her work is collected worldwide, sought out for Deena’s innovative approach to classical methodologies including embroidery, quilting, collage, painting, drawing and more.

Describe your approach to teaching
My teaching approach is person-centred, meeting each student at whatever point in their creative and technical journey they’re currently at. I’m mindful that I’m teaching invitational learners; students choosing to attend my courses. My workshops are designed to be enjoyable experiences, offering a creative retreat from the demands of everyday life.

What inspires your own work?
My work is materials-driven, with a strong sense of the narrative inherent in found and vintage materials. Storytelling is central to my practice, whether personal, imagined, or impressionistic.
