Subject Tutor, Interior Design

Fiona Caulfield is an interior and spatial designer, researcher and educator with more than 25 years of experience across design, retail, product development and commercial leadership. She holds a BA (Hons) in Three-Dimensional Design and an MA in Interior Design and Sustainable Futures with Distinction from the University of Brighton, where she received the Perkins & Will Interior Design Prize for community engagement.

Her career includes senior roles at John Lewis and The Conran Shop, international consultancy, and the development of retail, hospitality and residential concepts across the UK and Asia. She now teaches interior and spatial design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, bringing together practical industry experience, creative practice and critical enquiry. Fiona is a Registered Interior Designer with the British Institute of Interior Design and a member of the Design Research Society.

Through Remodel, her research-led practice, and Living Futures, an evolving research platform, Fiona explores how changing patterns of living may shape the future experience of home. Her work examines the relationship between environment, wellbeing, identity and belonging, forming the foundation for research she intends to develop through future doctoral study.
