James Price
James is a professional blacksmith with over 15 years
experience, his work combines contemporary design with traditional
hot forging techniques and can be found throughout the UK and
abroad. Originally having gained a BA hons in craft design at
Brighton art college James went on to combine this with an
apprentice type training which eventually took him to the Swiss
alps. James taught Blacksmithing at Plumpton college earlier in his
career and is passionate about both design and making.
My approach to teaching is very much hands on and I will give as
much or as little as the student wants. Teaching for me is
extremely rewarding and reminds me of the magic of what I do and
helps me see it with fresh eyes.
I am inspired daily by the processes that I use. Forging is a
transformative process that allows for huge creativity and luckily
it is also very satisfying and a lot of fun too!
