Katie Donaldson

Before setting up her own studio, Katie was the lead designer for Pollyanna Wilkinson and a designer for the award-winning Matt Keightley. Her experience spans large rural estates to high end urban gardens. Prior to garden design, Katie worked in press and communications. She retrained at KLC, where she is now a visiting tutor on the diploma, graduating with a distinction and receiving the ‘Top Student’ and ‘Best Residential Garden’ awards.

Approach to teaching
My approach to teaching is to enable students to enjoy the process of refining, challenging and honing how they work. A learning environment should be a place to feel empowered and supported so that students can bravely explore their own style and ethos with freedom and confidence.

What inspires your work
I worked for years in art galleries and so the visual arts still strongly influence my work. A sensitivity to people and the natural world are also a driving force for me: creating an environment that serves both is always challenging and inspiring.
