Mieko Fujimori

Profile
Mieko, is a paper maker and an indigo dye tutor. She was born in Yamakawa-chou Tokushima prefecture, Japan in 1951. In 1970 she  Graduated from Shikoku Women’s College and in 1971 married Yoichi Fujimori and started working in Fuji Papermill Enterprise Union.


At the same time Mieko started indigo dye (on paper), (the skill passed on by Yoichi’s mother) and teaches as a master of indigo dye on paper.


2006 Exhibited her works with other artists at Women Traditional Art and Craft Show.
Together with traditional ways of using craft she produces Awagami paper to fit into modern space and time.
2009 Acknowledged as Master of Traditional Craftsman by the Japanese government.
2022 Awarded 2nd prize in Modern Art, Tokushima Prefecture Art Exhibition.
