Phoebe Ignatia
Phoebe Ignatia is an Objects and Textiles Conservator with professional experience in both the UK and Australia. She holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Materials Conservation from the University of Melbourne.
Phoebe has experience in the conservation of costume, accessories, historic textiles, contemporary social history collections, and First Nations Australian cultural heritage. Her practice includes working with complex composite objects, with a particular interest in synthetic and polymer materials—an area of specialism developed through her minor thesis on plastics in textile collections.
Her approach to conservation emphasises ethical decision-making, sustainability, and collaboration. Phoebe is committed to sharing conservation knowledge through teaching, documentation, and engagement with stakeholders, ensuring that care and treatment strategies are informed by professional standards and the values of communities of origin.
