ROSA Botanical Art Fair

Join us for a festival of flora in art and design at the first ROSA Botanical Art Fair. Explore a series of exhibitions and installations throughout West Dean’s historic rooms, work by the Society of Botanical Artists in the Estate Boardroom and a curated art and design fair on the front lawn. Festivities at this new event include a sculpture garden, performances, talks, tours, and a vintage tea marquee. (Some events may have additional costs).

The following performances are also included as part of the event: 

  • Performance on piano by Guy Chambers (3pm, Saturday, Oak Hall)
  • Poetry performance by Rev. Peter Owen Jones (2pm, Saturday, Oak Hall) 
  • Forest without Frontiers ‘Listening to Nature’ event (3pm, Monday, Spring Garden)

Catering
A range of delicious lunches and refreshments will be available from our onsite Gardens Kitchen restaurant. Traditional Afternoon Teas. Fully licensed bars. No booking required. 

Access
West Dean Gardens are partially accessible. The Estate house has wheelchair access but please book ahead by contacting [email protected]

Dogs
Dogs on short leads are welcome at West Dean Gardens. Only assistance dogs are allowed inside West Dean House.

Tickets
£13.75 + VAT and booking fee. Childen 16 and under are free.

Collage with Vintage Botanical fabric

A botanical-themed textile collage taster session introducing students to layered fabric techniques, hand-stitching, and mixed-media approaches inspired by spring flora. Students will create a small textile panel to take home.

Botanical Screen Printing

Explore screen printing onto paper using sustainable natural dye colours. Taking inspiration from the gardens of West Dean, you will learn how to cut a simple stencil print design. The natural dye printing inks are made from leaves, roots, and flowers, and they make entrancing and harmonious colours.
