Interior Designer
What was your background before KLC?
I formerly worked in event marketing for four years in the food and pharmaceutical sector.
Why did you decide to study interior design?
I have always been passionate about architecture and design and was keen to make the leap into doing something that I love. I spent six months deliberating where to go and finally chose KLC.
What did you think of the course?
The course is extremely intensive, but it doesn't just teach you about interior design, it teaches you how to become an interior designer.
What are your design interests / strengths?
My main strengths lie in developing creative ideas within my sketchbook and working out all the little details. Everything is aimed to the client and developing ideas that are personal to them is really exciting. I particularly enjoy sketching and rendering and seeing the end visuals ready for a client presentation provides a great sense of satisfaction.
What are you inspired by?
I love anything and everything, the old and the contemporary. I like attention to detail, discovering the little "trick" that makes all the difference, I get inspired through books (from kids, to art, to architecture), images and also through my travels to Paris, Europe and Asia. I am also inspired by my Korean culture and I think this is where my boho/Parisian liking style comes from. I follow a lot of blogs such as Archilovers, ARchitonic, FrenchyFancym Cargo, TrendsNow, Home Designing, LaLOveList...and also Instagram and Pinterest...I could keep going on!
What is your favourite interior?
The Rosewood Hotel designed by Tony Chi in London is amazing. The impact of the stunning rose bronze gallery entrance is incredible. I love the grey and brown combinations, and the contrasting white and black stripes covering the floors. The overall style is both contemporary and historically aware, and somehow both quintessentially London and invitingly cosmopolitan. It is one of those places that you want to just keep exploring. I love it!
