The gardeners at award-winning West Dean Gardens near Chichester are putting plans into place for the Spring and Summer, and there is a range of fascinating upcoming garden workshops and talks.

For those who would like to learn a new creative hands-on skill in a short period of time, and even create something to be proud of, West Dean College of Arts and Conservation, in West Sussex offers a vast array of one-day courses. They are perfect for those who are time poor or simply need to switch off from everyday life to try something new. For those with more time, there are 800 short courses a year ranging from a day to a week or more!

Celebrate Easter and bring family and friends to explore the award-winning West Dean Gardens near Chichester. From 10 April -13 April, 2020 between 9am - 5pm (Last entry 4pm), children can take part in a traditional Easter Craft Trail, which will have a tasty prize at the end, plus a variety of crafts and games around the gardens.

The School of Conservation at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation recently welcomed students to a brand new facility for science teaching and research in support of conservation and one of the first major projects they are working on is in collaboration with The Novium Museum in Chichester, for their nationally important exhibition Mystery Warrior: The North Bersted Man (January 25 – September 26, 2020).
 

A new programme of over 400 Spring/Summer 2020 creative short courses at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation in West Sussex has just been launched. Many are informed by sustainable practices in arts and craft, and there is plenty of innovation alongside a resurgence in some traditional skills. The tutor line up is drawn from across the UK and internationally and this latest programme runs through to September. 

West Dean Tapestry Studio is one of the only professional Tapestry Studios in the UK and has been working with contemporary artists and designers to translate their images into woven tapestry since 1976. The Studio will be taking part in PLATFORM: ​THREADING FORMS at London Art Fair (22 - 26 January 2020 with Preview 21 January). West Dean’s Master Weaver Designer Philip Sanderson, along with his colleagues will be translating an image The Empress of the Insects drawn by Edward James on June 22, 1983. 

Award-winning West Dean Gardens near Chichester, West Sussex is very pleased to welcome two new Garden Trainees – Chantal Rich whose traineeship is funded by Perennial, the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people in horticulture and their families, and Laura Mellor, who is the first recipient of the Jim Buckland & Sarah Wain Scholarship.

West Dean College of Arts and Conservation have now announced their 2020 Summer Schools, which take place from July 24 to August 13, 2020.
