West Dean is delighted to announce that they have awarded four new Honorary Fellowships to coincide with the end of their academic year. This is the third time that West Dean has awarded Fellowships; the Fellows, Sue Timney, Salena Godden, Joanna Moorhead and Alexandria Dauley are active supporters of the College and its Schools and eminent in their sphere.

Aptly titled Conservation of Books, a definitive 700-page reference guide which took two years to create and was edited by esteemed West Dean alumna Abigail Bainbridge has been recently published by Routledge.

For those looking for a way to escape this Autumn and Winter, West Dean College of Arts and Conservation has just launched their new programme of arts and crafts short courses for October 2022 through to March 2023.

Conservation Studies students have made exciting discoveries while working on previously uncatalogued material found in West Dean’s gardens and workshops. Their discoveries have revealed new information about the history of West Dean and its gardens, and its development over the last 50 years as West Dean College of Arts and Conservation.   

As the UK records its highest temperatures on record and has introduced hosepipe bans, it seems timely that West Dean Gardens has introduced a new drought tolerant experimental meadow that is covered in recycled stone mulch.

This year, West Dean College of Arts and Conservation celebrates its first stand-alone exhibition by students graduating from the Diploma in Art and Contemporary Craft, a part-time programme that gives the students the flexibility to develop new and innovative work.

This year, a selection of work from the full-time Fine Art students at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation (Near Chichester, West Sussex) will be exhibited at Copeland Gallery. The free exhibition titled Any Day Now will run from Thursday, July 14 –Sunday, July 17, 2022 between 12-6pm, with a late opening on Thursday, July 14 between 6-8pm, when there will be an opportunity to meet the artists.
