We will look at what it takes to create a garden that works for you, for wildlife and the planet, looking at the principles of ecosystems and how they apply in a garden setting.
The course will include a look at some of the features in the West Dean gardens as illustrations of the theory being taught.
On this course, the tutor will supply handouts and also some seeds for sowing as a take away gift.
Outdoor clothing suitable for gardening, including wet weather gear, boots, etc. and for hot weather, e.g. hats, suncream, etc. Pens/pencils and paper for note-taking.
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, and for outdoors when going round the gardens. This includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).
Student registration: 9.15am-9.30am
Course teaching: 9.30am-5pm
Morning session: 9.30am-1pm
Lunch break: 1pm-2pm (lunch included)
Afternoon session: 2pm-5pm
Teaching finishes: 5pm
