The first day focuses on developing printing techniques through sampling and experimentation, giving you the opportunity to build confidence with layering, repeats and colour combinations. On the second day, you'll transform your favourite designs into a pair of contemporary empire card lampshades, professionally finished with an edge-bound trim.
Throughout the course, you'll gain an understanding of traditional Indian block-printing methods and how these centuries-old techniques can be adapted for contemporary interiors and creative projects. The main focus of the workshop will be creating a collection of printed paper samples, while also discussing the techniques and considerations involved in printing onto fabric, giving insight into how these methods can be adapted across different materials.
The printed papers created during the workshop can be used not only for lampshades but also for a variety of other creative applications, including gift wrapping, bookbinding and future paper-based projects. Suitable for beginners as well as those with some creative experience, this workshop encourages individual design exploration while introducing the specialist skills needed to produce beautifully finished lampshades and develop your own collection of unique printed designs.
