Immersive Art Week
23 to 28 August 2026
West Dean’s Immersive Art School Week is an intensely rewarding, five-day creative reset designed to give you the space, inspiration, and time to focus away from daily distractions. You arrive curious and leave with finished work, new techniques, and real momentum. Led by expert artist-tutors, these week-long courses are designed for those looking to experiment with new approaches or map out a clear creative direction through "serious making" and ambitious outcomes.
Go deep into specialist crafts in our fully equipped studios, supported by makers at the top of their field. Whether you are forging Damascus steel into functional objects or translating mark-making into textile surfaces, you can choose to focus on basketry, textiles, printmaking, drawing and painting, ceramics, woven tapestry and Damascus steel.
What makes the week truly special is the cross-disciplinary studio atmosphere. Beyond the individual workshops, the week is defined by a shared creative energy and a supportive community:
- Tutor Talks: Evening presentations in The Old Library to broaden your perspective.
- Studio Visits: Informal opportunities to share work, experiences, and fresh ways of seeing.
- Creative Community: An environment that builds confidence and inspires students to return year after year.
With accommodation options available on-site, it is a uniquely expansive environment that invites you to bring a friend, dive into your practice, and rediscover your creative voice.
