Andrea Del Bianco
Andrea Del Bianco graduated in Industrial Chemistry in 1999 and in Conservation and Restoration from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna in 2005, specializing in paper conservation. In 2012 he earned a Master’s in Contemporary Materials Conservation at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence and began teaching. He is currently a tenured professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna and a member of the scientific committee of CoRes – Conservazione e Restauro.
My approach to teaching integrates chemistry and conservation practice. As both a chemist and a conservator, I connect scientific principles with conservation techniques, helping students understand materials, degradation processes, and informed conservation decisions.
My work is inspired by the search for less invasive conservation materials—solutions that protect artworks while also being safer for conservators, accessible, and environmentally sustainable.
