Each Over Other: Plants of the Downs with Melanie Rose and Harriet Tarlo

On 9 May, there will be an opportunity to take an afternoon walk and garden tour through the grounds of West Dean College with Harriet Tarlo, poet and Professor of Ecopoetics at Sheffield Hallam, Dr Melanie Rose, painter and tutor and Mark Roberts, Consultant Archaeologist and Honorary Fellow at West Dean College, to explore the botanical life of West Dean and hear poems read outside.

We return to the college for refreshments, followed by a talk about the exhibition and the animate life of plants by the artists and a poetry and music open mic in response to the work and to plant life.

All are welcome to contribute to the open mic:

  • 1.30-2pm: Oak Hall - meet visitors for garden tour. Pre-registration required ticket tailor link.
  • 4pm: Oak Hall - Refreshments and snacks in the Oak Hall and talk by Melanie Rose and Harriet Tarlo
  • 5pm: Finnisage (Foyer Gallery)
  • 6.00-8.00pm: Open Mic in Oak Hall open to ALL musicians/writers/performers – bring your work that engages with plants and/or The Downs! 3-5minute performance times.
