Included
Drawing paper, Sashiko embroidery threads and a small piece of calico are supplied.
What students need to bring
- Basic sewing equipment: scissors, needles and pins
- Pritt Stick/glue stick
- Additional sewing threads if you have them
- A piece of firm linen/cotton/calico/canvas in cream, tea stained or a colour of your choice to use as a base for the stitch (no less than A5 postcard size)
- A small selection of papers:
- Brown wrapping paper or large brown envelopes
- Collect assorted waste papers from patterned paper bags
- Oriental specialist papers
- Printed papers from magazines or your own images on photocopy paper
- Gathered scraps: of writing, prints, lace, cotton/linen fabrics with or without prints (various sizes)
(N.B. Paper and gathered scraps should fit into one small bag!)
Consider the colours and themes you may wish to work with (landscape/abstract)

A good variety of art and craft materials are available to buy in the Gardens Gatehouse Shop.
Additional information
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).

This venue has steps to the front reception, with limited access via a side gate to the ground floor. There is a small lift to higher floors or stairs.
