During this workshop, you will learn about the principles of transforming a drawing into a repeat pattern for the wallpaper, explore the visual language while translating mark-making, photographic references and illustration into a lino-block and a screen print.
Over the four days, we will experiment with colour, learn about the rhythm behind a repeat pattern and learn various printing techniques, stencilling, lino printing and silk screen printing.
You will create patterns based on individual research of marks, textures, forms and colours, explore the composition and develop your own pattern for wallpaper decoration.
This workshop will allow you to gain technical knowledge, develop confidence in handling materials, equipment and skills required to prepare design for print and work in a professional printmaking studio.
This course is taught at a professional level and is suitable for creative thinkers and makers who have an interest in surface design and printmaking.
On this course the College will supply most materials required for the specific project set by the tutor or shared by the group including:
Please prepare a mood board (or selection of photo references) to be used as design and colour palette inspiration.
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes). Possible equipment restrictions in tutor abscence.
