About this course

A taster session to introduce you to drawing and mark-making with charcoal. This two hour taster session will be held on the Gardens Gatehouse Craft Table. Please access via the Gardens Entrance.

Course Description

Your tutor will show you how to construct a landscape drawing from photo reference using pencil and charcoal to draw and shade in areas of tone. Learn about composition, perspective, tonal contrast and how to make a variety of marks in charcoal to represent form, depth and texture.

What you'll make:

  • An A4 size charcoal drawing of a scene from West Dean Gardens

  • An assortmetn of charcoal to use during the course

  • An apron
