About this course

Discover the image-editing power and management of Adobe Lightroom Classic. You will learn the interface, workflows and possibilities of Adobe Lightroom Classic – from importing photographs to detailed manipulation, enhancement and output.

Course Description

This course aims to introduce you to the creative image editing power and image management of Adobe Lightroom Classic functions and sub-modules, and to enable confident and capable interpretation of the photograph in respect of exposure, colour, clarity and image finishing.

The structure of the weekend will be the workflow of Lightroom Classic itself, beginning with importing files (with an understanding of storage, keywording and labelling) – moving on to detailed manipulation, enhancement and output, and how to export photographs for a range of purposes.

The differences between file types is explained before importing some photographs captured during an excursion into West Dean Gardens.

  • Overview of the Library module to manage files, keywording, rating and accessing meta data
  • Using compare and survey modes
  • Understanding and managing the histogram to recover highlights and shadow detail
  • Introduction to the develop module (exposure, white balance, vibrance and saturation)
  • Local adjustments (cropping, spot removal, red eye removal)
  • Automating adjustments to multiple files
  • Converting images to black and white to maximise tone and impact
  • Finishing files by reducing noise and sharpening
  • Creating HDR and panoramas
  • Exporting files.
