Tony Padman
Tony Padman began his journalism career in 2001 writing news and features for local and regional publications before moving to Fleet Street’s national newspapers including The Times, The Guardian and The Daily Mail.
Following a media studies degree and further courses in journalism, he later undertook his teaching qualification in 2009 and he continues to enjoy teaching as much as journalism.
Among the many people he has interviewed are Margaret Thatcher’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Bernard Ingham; celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver and former ITN broadcaster and war correspondent Michael Nicholson.
Describe your approach to teaching.
My approach to teaching combines my skills as a journalist and teacher to give students the tools and confidence they need to write in a simple and straightforward journalistic style.
What inspires your own work?
My inspiration comes from thinking about the reader and finding a great story they want to see. Having plenty of ideas and specialising in various subjects are vital to success.
