About this course

A day where you will discover the magic of propagation, and you will leave with both confidence and knowledge to propagate and a few young plants for your garden .

Course Description

The day will begin with a lecture looking at the basic principles of propagation, illustrating why and how we propagate plants, including the different methods used, depending on plant species and time of year. The morning will then progress to a practical session on seed sowing and taking cuttings for late summer and autumn, although the skills learnt here will be transferable to other times of the year.

After lunch, the practical experience continues, focusing on the aftercare that seedlings require once germinated and when cuttings have rooted. There will be time for a tour around the growing structures of West Dean Gardens, before the day concludes with a demonstration of the various equipment, materials and suppliers that will help you continue on with your propagation journey.
