What is clearing?
Clearing allows you to apply for courses after the initial application deadline as long as there are still spaces available. This way if you changed your mind, didn't meet the criteria or receive an offer from your chosen university, you still have the chance to secure a place and continue your education.
How do you apply through clearing?
You can apply through clearing if you’re applying after 30th June, you didn’t receive any offers, you didn’t meet the conditions of your offers, or you’ve changed your mind on your chosen course.
To apply through UCAS:
Go to the UCAS website, search for courses, and use filter “West Dean College” for our School of Arts and School of Conservation courses and “KLC School of Design” for our Interior and Garden Design London based courses.
To apply directly with us:
Simply fill in the application form on the course page you're interested in.

How long does it take to get an offer through clearing?
We aim to formalise offers within 5 working days during Clearing, though it can be quicker depending on the course and applicant.
When does clearing open and close?
This varies year to year, for 2025 clearing opens July 5th and continues until October 20th. However, spaces are limited and if a course is full then it will close for clearing applications so it’s best to apply as soon as possible.
Who is eligible to apply through clearing?
Anyone who meets the entry requirements for the chosen course.
